
Mexican immigration officials in Tijuana have announced that they have received 11 applications for residency for citizens of Haiti who wish to legalize their stay in Mexico.
These 11 Haitian immigrants also already have a job waiting for them in a factory.
Last October, in response to the influx of Haitian immigrants coming from Brazil, seeking entry into the United States, the Mexican government said that they would give immigrants seeking asylum in the US, a temporary residency while their case proceeded.
According to Mexican authorities for the 2016 calendar some 11.000 migrants have crossed into the United States from Tijuana. Some 18.000 more immigrants from Haiti and other african countries are expected to arrive in Mexico in the weeks to come.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Homeland Security has already begun with the regular deportation of undocumented Haitians immigrants, since it has cancelled the halt of deportation in September put en en place by the Obama administration after a terrible earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010.
