Two Venezuelans who were traveling in a vehicle that contained 500 000 US dollars were questioned on August 24th  2015, during a joint operation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ ), through the Brigade fight against drug trafficking (BLTs). Laundering of assets derived from illicit trafficking of narcotics is the charge brought against both Venezuelan nationals whom is aged 39 and the other 25 years.

The operation took place in Tabarre 36 (West) at about 2PM local time. The sum of $ 500,000 is distributed in several packages of $ 10,000. The two Venezuelans who were in possession of this money were on the front seat of the black SUV with plate numbers AA 21079, explained the spokesman of the PNH, Garry Desrosiers.

A respondent has already been conducted by the competent authorities for information on the origin of this large sum, said Garry Desrosiers.

This crackdown was conducted as part of Operation Storm "launched by the PNH for about a month.

A total of 45 people were arrested, 3 firearms, three motorcycles, a photo camera, a mobile phone, a vehicle brand Terios, $ 500,000 were confiscated, said Garry Desrosiers who presented the second report of the Storm operation.

The various counts are: drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, homicide, murder, rape, armed robbery, sexual assault, robbery etc.

The HNP also arrested 8 suspected robbers involved in the assassination of Claude Delatour, who died Saturday, July 4, 2015, in Petion Ville, said the spokesman of the PNH.

Two other members of a gang specialized in kidnapping, were presented to the public. According to Garry Desrosiers, one of the two suspected kidnappers, Evans Alcin or Zephyr Peterson, a prison escapee, is involved in 30 cases of kidnapping
