Employees of the Office of Vehicle Insurance Against Third Party (OAVCT) will march in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince on Friday, to protest what they call, a privatization of the state run company which essentially would leave them without a job.

This march, which is the initiative of several public sector unions, also aims to denounce the waves of dismissals carried out within this public establishment as well as the persecutions they claim to have suffered at the level of the OAVCT union.

Like most public institutions in Haiti, OAVCT, the largest vehicular insurance company in Haiti, suffers from chronic budget deficit due to payments arrears of most of its customers.

This walk will start in front of the Charles Summer Avenue extension at 10 am The organizers of this march did not give details on the course or its outcome. The OAVCT eomployees have been on strike for several weeks following a set of measures adopted by the special commission responsible for restructuring the institution.
