Haitian Police arrested and will hand over to Dominicans two men allegedly responsible for murders in Pedernales, which caused tensions at the border

Dominican officials indicate that Haiti National Police (PNH) have arrested the two brothers who are allegedly responsible for the murder of a couple in the border town of Perdernales last week, and will soon be handed over to Dominican law enforcement agents.

Tensions erupted earlier today in Pedernales after a group of Dominicans and the Mayor of that town, mounted speakers on pickup trucks, blasting threats and giving all residents of Haitian nationality a 24 hours ultimatum to either leave town or be forcibly removed. To avoid the worsening of the situation, Dominican President Danilo Medino dispatched an important elite paramilitary troops and additional police to control the situation.

Even the US State Department, took noticed of the tensions in Pedernales and advised american citizens of potential demonstrations. Schools on the Dominican side of that border area was closed for the day, while the Haitian Police significantly increased its presence there.
