Haitian Minister of Defense seeks help of Mexican Army for Haiti's own

The Haitian Minister of Defense, Herve Denis, is in Mexico, seeking technical support and experience exchanges for the recently reconstituted Haitian military.

The Haitian Minister of Defense, accompanied by the Haitian ambassador in Mexico, Guy Lamothe, was received yesterday by the Mexican General Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, Secretary of National Defense, who presided over a reception welcome ceremony at the “Plaza de la Loaltad” where many Mexican soldiers showcased some of their abilities through a large parade.


According to a statement from the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense,"The purpose of this visit is to generate an exchange of experiences in the defense approach, assistance to the civilian population and support in the case of natural disasters through the strengthening of bilateral relations between the Mexican Army and Air Force and the Ministry of Defense of Haiti."

"This meeting will allow to agree on tasks that promote the development of the Armed Forces of Haiti and ratify the commitment of the Secretariat of National Defense to address issues of common interest."
