Haiti's Ministry of Education said that it recovered 72 million gourdes of "zombies checks"

The Minister of National Education, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, revealed to the press last week that more than 72 million gourdes of "zombies checks" have been recovered from his ministry.

This important money recovery was made possible thanks to a thorough investigation carried out by the MENFP at the level of the staff, said Mr. Cadet.


Since lat year, many important ministries and other institutions have made public announcement about "zombie checks" discovered within their agencies.

Last December, Prime minister Jack Guy Lafontant during a press conference said that he personally had discovered millions of gourdes of fraudulent checks. "At the level of the Ministry of Public Health, the zombies checks found totaled 23 million gourdes. Those found at the Ministry of Education total about 40 million gourdes, " he said, without saying however, who were guilty of such fraudulent practices.

For its part, the director general of the PNH announced that just last week, that during the past three months, the general direction of the Institution has recovered 50 million gourdes of zombies checks. Michel-ange Gendeon points to police officers who are involved in this practice.
