The Minister of Defense of the Dominican Republic, Lieutenant General Rubén Darío Paulino Sem, denies media suggestions that the Departure of the United Nations Security  forces in Haiti will pose a security threat to the Dominican republic.

The UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti since 2004, will be over in the next six months

The unusual denied at such a high governmental level came after the director of the National Investigations Department, suggested that security at all border entry points be strengthened to prevent a flow of undocumented Haitian nationals from entering on dominican soil.

Paulino Sem reported that since last week he began an operation with the General Directorate of Migration and Specialized Border Security Corps, through which some 7,000 Haitians who have tried to cross the border illegally have been returned home.
