An electoral observation mission comprised of 130 members, sent by the Organisation of American States have arrived in Haiti today, in preparation for Sunday's presidential election.
The team of experts from 24 nations, headed by Uruguayan Senator Juan Raul Ferreira, will be deployed to different voting centers throughout the country and help Haitian authority monitor the process.
The OAS also oversaw the first round of the October 2015 presidential election whose results would be later thrown out, after numerous fraud allegations and violence that erupted. The head of this year's mission Senator Ferreira said that " We have seen improvements over the previous phases of the electoral process, despite the circumstances.
The Chief of the OAS mission also call on the Haitian population to go en masse to the polls and make their voices heard, while cautioning the candidates to "act responsibly" to allow the Haitian people to choose its democratic leader.
