Pierre Nord Alexis was the Grandson of Henry Christophe; his father was a general in Christophe's army, and his mother, Blezine Georges was the illegitimate daughter of Henry Christophe. After the death of his father, his mother remarried to President Jean Louis Pierrot whom he served as an aide-camp. After the fall of Pierrot, Alexis was forced into exile, in 1874, but returned to Haiti after a few years.
He endured several jail terms for his outspoken opposition against Lysius Salomon.
